Empower Performers (Ages 7-12 years)
Our weekly drama classes for ages 8-12 are fun filled and action packed combining learning with lots of games, speech work, movement, devising and scripted work.
Our lesson plans are highly original. The theme of our lessons change every half term, with topics such as Greek Myths and Legends, Physical Theatre and Fables. Every session has a theme and all the games, skills, activities and theatre making are linked to that theme. The lesson follows the same format every week so our students know what to expect.

During our classes, our members learn lots of different skills each week to not only help them excel in school but also in everyday life, these include confidence building, speech and language, teamwork, concentration, coordination and physical development.

At the end of the summer and winter term, each class prepares a show to be shown to an invited audience, which is devised by the group before being scripted by the class teacher. There are no auditions and each member decides on what character they would like to play in advance of the scripting process.

Empower encourages its members to explore, play and experiment with ideas to create new innovative pieces of theatre.

Star of the week & child's progress:

Every week, one Empower student is awarded Star of the Week. The Star of the Week will be chosen based on their work in the session. It may be awarded for excellent speech, characterisation, team work, ad-lib work and many other reasons. The Star of the Week is to encourage all children to perform to the best of their abilities in all the sections of the class and to reward the children for their hard work that week. The Star of the Week will receive a certificate that is theirs to keep as well as Super Bear and his Scrap Book. The Star of the Week gets to take Super Bear and his scrap book home for the week, until the next session. The scrap book can be used to record/document adventures with Super Bear - this could be drawings, stories, photos, words or anything else you would like to include.

Our students wellbeing is at the fore front of everything that we do. We want our members to excel and so at the end of every half term, parents will receive written feedback about how their child has been during the sessions. If needed, children will also receive a resource pack with imaginative activities and creative learning for them to do in their own time at home. Parents can get in contact at any time if they have any further questions.

My son joined Empower early this year and has really grown in confidence when performing. Before joining there is no way he would've got up on stage to perform in front of a room packed full of strangers. He has really connected with Taja and has enjoyed having her as his teacher. Highly recommended.
