Wow, what an incredible summer camp we had this year! From August 12th to August 30th at Alec Reed Academy, our Empower Arts Summer Camp became a true celebration of creativity, talent, and unforgettable memories. With around 35 children joining us each week, it was such a joy to watch them grow, laugh, and express themselves through the magic of theatre.
Our campers, aged 4 to 7 and 8 to 15, were divided into groups where they worked together to create amazing shows each week, with performances at St. Mary's Church Hall. In the first week, they tackled the timeless classics Annie and Oliver—it was amazing to see the children pour their hearts into these beloved stories. By the second week, we were whisked away to the vibrant world of Encanto and the adventures of Peter Pan. The energy, the singing, the sheer fun—it was incredible to see the magic unfold! Our final week brought even more excitement with their own version of Shrek and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The laughter and creativity that filled the room made it a perfect end to such a fantastic summer.
I’m beyond proud of every single child who participated. They truly exceeded all expectations, bringing so much energy and passion to the stage. It was such a privilege to see their confidence bloom and their friendships strengthen. These kids didn’t just create performances—they created memories that will stay with them forever.
A special shoutout to our incredible team of staff—this camp wouldn’t have been possible without your dedication. From dance, singing, and drama support to our SEND workers who ensured that every child felt included, I’m so grateful for all of your hard work. This year, we even brought in a costume maker for the first time, and wow, the costumes added so much to each show! You all made this summer camp truly magical.

Watching the children grow over the course of these weeks has been a highlight of the summer, and knowing that they—and you—enjoyed it as much as we did brings such joy.
